One Hook, One Line, One Fish

by Angus Cann on August 23, 2021

One Hook, One Line, One Fish

Making an informed choice when buying seafood is easy when all you have in front of you are good options! If you want to know where your seafood comes from, you’ve come to the right place. We were the first national retailer to set rigorous sustainability and traceability requirements for canned tuna. All canned tuna on our grocery shelves and in our own kitchens is sourced from fisheries using one-by-one catch methods, like pole-and-line, which prevent bycatch and create more jobs in coastal communities. These continual advancements in sourcing are part of Whole Foods Market’s mission to help move the seafood industry toward greater sustainability.

“The scale has shifted too far. We’re overly reliant on large scale industrial operations for providing the world’s seafood.”

Adam Baske, Director(Former), Policy and Outreach, International Pole and Line Foundation
